In support of World Cancer Day – 4th February
Cancer shook the CJAM team in 2016 with three diagnoses of breast cancer and we are determined to help in the fight to beat it. Please do all you can to explore what you can do – as an individual or a group – to reduce the global burden of cancer.
Our plans for 2017 include entering a CJAM team in our local Race for Life for the second year running (pun intended!), a bake sale and individual fundraising efforts for local and national cancer charities.
We’ll also be spreading the word about World Cancer Day on 4th February through social media using #WeCanICan and #WorldCancerDay. Why not sign up to the thunderclap through Facebook and Twitter accounts like us, too?
World Cancer Day was established by the Paris Charter adopted at the World Summit Against Cancer for the new millenium in Paris on 4 February 2000. This charter is aimed at the promotion of the research for curing as well as preventing the disease, upgrading the provided services to the patients, the sensitisation of the common opinion and the mobilisation of the global community against cancer.
This awareness day is a chance to reflect on what you can do, make a pledge and take action. Whatever you choose to do ‘We can. I can.’ make a difference to the fight against cancer.
